Yeah but working with Talzo doesn't mean she should be tortured with D Squad.DarkMario1000,

If Gigi's smart
Never mind, I don't know where I was going with that. Sorry, Gigi.

I love the Squad's underreactions to all of the craziness that happens in the halls.Jarkes,

@KHKirby: They're used to it by this point. Like Kaxo once said, "We take it all in stride."Jarkes,

So anyway, got Kirby's Dream Collection... I really don't care for the fact that suspending play works like all Wii Virtual Console stuff (where you can't do a permanent suspension point) instead of the 3DS Virtual Console stuff (where you can). I had really been hoping I'd be able to just create a savestate or whatever you want to call it at particularly tricky points (Level 5 of Cloudy Park from KDL3, I'm looking at YOU with your narrow, upward passageways with lots of Gordos that you have to go up with Rick), but NOPE! Can't have the collection work like EVERY OTHER COMPILATION RE-RELEASE of ANYTHING.Ultimate Yoshi,

@Jarkes: Yeah, it's much better to use somewhat unfair cheating to bypass difficult sections instead of playing the game how it's meant to be played and actually feeling a sense of accomplishment by bypassing a difficult section! Shame on you, Nintendo!Jarkes,

@Ultimate Yoshi: ...Okay, fair enough. I did feel immensely pleased when I finally did get past that difficult section the first time.
Although, I have to say, it's WEIRD playing the original Super Star after having played Ultra so much. Not just the controls and graphics either. It's not really possible to just discard abilities (you have to create a helper), and while the sprites and environments are BIGGER, they're less detailed. Not only that, but the music gets interrupted for about a second every time you get a copy ability or helper. And I remember seeing someone play Great Cave Offensive on the original, and the save rooms worked a bit differently (you had to press a switch and grab a Maxim Tomato in order to heal, instead of it healing you automatically after saving).
...Although I think I've played Super Star the most on Dream Collection so far. I've also played a little bit of Adventure, DL2, and 64 (probably not going to play DL1 all that often, though I will play DL3 at some point).
...Say... when you get around to doing Let's Plays of other Kirby games, are you going to use Dream Collection to do it, or are you just going to use an emulator like you've been doing for most (though not all) of your Let's Plays? Come to think of it, when ARE you going to do more Kirby Let's Plays? After you're done with PM:TTYD and LOZ:SS?
...Wow, I can get long-winded some times.

Y'know what else is weird? Apparently, Super Star Ultra never updated the graphics for Megaton Punch or Samurai Kirby. Doesn't that strike you as a bit strange?Jarkes,

Okay, so apparently, the suspend play thing DOES work differently... No matter how you reset the system or turn off the Wii, when you get back to that specific game, it will always be right where you had left it.
...Which means that, except for 64, I will never be able to go back to the title screen, check my completion percentage, or even start a new file unless I get a game over.
...Y'know, maybe I'd actually PREFER it if it worked how most Virtual Console stuff worked...
October 27th, 2012, 9:24 amReply
@Jarkes: I'm reasonably certain that there's a reset button built into the game that allows you to return to the title screen. Check the instruction booklet.Jarkes,

@Ultimate Yoshi: You were right. On the Classic Controller, it's a+b+L+R. That simplifies matters.
that guy you know,
...Something I find interesting (which I remember from your LP of KDL2) is that KDL2 saves the number of lives you have when quitting the game, but none of the other games do this. Weird.

@lstaff4: That part was just one of the many weird things about the early pages of this comic...
Which reminds me, I need to put an entry for "Early Installment Weirdness" on the TV Tropes page for this...
...Why am I the only person who ever edits that page?
